About Us
The CLPOA’s all-volunteer Board of Directors, other volunteers, and many from around the lake and beyond participate in the CLPOA activities. We hold regular public meetings to further inform the public and provide a forum for the public to ask questions, get answers to questions, and for the CLPOA to take suggestions. Our public education is enhanced by the local governments and media

TAMMY SCHACK: DIRECTOR
Tammy Schack has been a proud resident of Bemus Point for over forty years. She deeply loves her community and country, and believes that when you want to see change, you roll up your sleeves and take action.
After retiring from her position as an executive secretary to two senior managers at Truck-Lite in 1983, Tammy chose to focus on raising her family. In 2001, she and her husband became the owners of Bridgeview One Stop in Bemus Point. Through mentoring young people and serving the community via their business, Tammy naturally gravitated toward broader advocacy, especially when it came to preserving the health and future of Chautauqua Lake.
In 2024, Tammy joined the Board of Directors for the Chautauqua Lake Property Owners Association (CLPOA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Her goal is to be a voice for citizens, visitors, and business owners alike—working to protect the lake and the livelihoods that depend on it. God. Family. Country. Community.

DAN SMITH: SECRETARY / TREASURER
Dan Smith is a full-time resident of Bemus Point and a dedicated advocate for the preservation and improvement of Chautauqua Lake. With a strong educational background in accounting, business, and philosophy, Dan brings a strategic and analytical approach to his role as Secretary/Treasurer of the CLPOA Board.
As a longtime supporter of responsible lake management, Dan is committed to protecting the interests of both property and business owners around Chautauqua Lake. His passion for improving lake conditions drives his efforts to ensure that policies and initiatives support long-term sustainability while maintaining the lake’s recreational and economic value. Through his leadership on the CLPOA Board, Dan works to foster collaboration among stakeholders, advocate for effective solutions, and uphold the mission of preserving Chautauqua Lake for generations to come.

KATHY O’BRIEN: DIRECTOR
Kathy O’Brien is from Chagrin Falls, Ohio and has been a dedicated part-time property owner in Maple Springs on Chautauqua Lake for 28 years. She is passionate about preserving and improving the lake’s health and recreational value. Kathy is retired but has a M.S. in Radiation Physics, and brings a thoughtful and science-based approach to addressing the environmental and regulatory challenges facing the lake.
Recently, Kathy served on the Maple Springs Citizens Association Board, gaining valuable experience in community engagement and advocacy. Now, as a director on the CLPOA Board, Kathy is committed to ensuring that the voices of property and business owners are heard, working to balance responsible environmental stewardship with the interests of those who live, work, and recreate on Chautauqua Lake.
Through the education of and collaboration with stakeholders, Kathy strives to promote effective, science-based solutions that enhance water quality, protect property values, and support the lake’s long-standing role as a cherished recreational destination.

WILLIAM JEFFERY (JEFF) MOORE, ESQ.
Jeff Moore is an experienced attorney dedicated to justice and advocacy, with a
practice focused on civil rights, employment law, criminal defense, general civil
and criminal litigation, wrongful death, and personal injury. Born in Buffalo, New
York, Jeff earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government and History from St.
Lawrence University and received his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law
School.
He is a member of the Ohio Bar and is admitted to practice before the Federal Bar
for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. Jeff brings a strong
commitment to protecting individual rights and promoting fair outcomes, backed
by years of courtroom experience and legal insight.
In 2023, Jeff purchased a home on Chautauqua Lake, drawn by its natural beauty
and recreational appeal. However, after a disappointing experience renting a boat
in Bemus Point—where he encountered significant algae and weed overgrowth—
he quickly realized the lake was facing serious environmental challenges. Seeking
to better understand the issues, Jeff was referred to the Chautauqua Lake
Property Owners Association (CLPOA). Inspired by the organization's efforts and
determined to be part of the solution, Jeff joined the CLPOA board to help
advocate for and contribute to the long-term health and vitality of Chautauqua
Lake.
